This refers to the darkness that devoured Mediah for three whole days. All of Mediah was under a blanket of complete darkness for three days. Altinova was no exception. With neither sun or moon offering light, the people of Mediah had to rely on torches to ward off the darkness. Some became hostile, and others still ran to the frontiers of Altinova, screaming all the while. It wasn't until later that this period was given the name ‘Three Days of Darkness‘.
